Daniel Drimmer is the founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Starlight Investments, a Canadian real estate asset manager with over 300 employees and $20B in AUM encompassing more than 70,000 multi-family units and 8.0M commercial square feet across Canada and the U.S.
In addition to the formation of Starlight Investments in 2011, Mr. Drimmer is currently a Director and Chief Executive Officer of Starlight U.S. Multi-Family (No. 1) Core Plus Fund (TSX-V: SCPO.UN) and Starlight U.S. Multi-Family (No. 2) Core Plus Fund (TSX-V: SCPT.A and SCPT.U) and was previously a Director and Chief Executive Officer of Starlight U.S. Multi-Family (No. 1) Value-Add Fund. He was also the Director and the Chief Executive Officer of the formerly TSX-V listed Starlight U.S. Multi-Family (No. 5) Core Fund and its predecessors.
Mr. Drimmer is the founder, Chairman of the Board and former President and CEO of True North Commercial REIT (TSX:TNT.UN), and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Northview Canadian High Yield Residential Fund (TSX: NHF.UN). Mr. Drimmer was also the founder and member of the Board of Trustees of True North Apartment REIT and TransGlobe Apartment REIT. Over the last ten years, Mr. Drimmer has completed more than $30 billion worth of acquisitions and dispositions in residential and commercial real estate (including nine initial public offerings).
Mr. Drimmer obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario, and both a Master of Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Contemporary European Policy Making from European University in Geneva, Switzerland and is a third generation real estate investor.
Evan Kirsh joined Starlight Investments in January 2013 as the President of Starlight U.S. Multi-Family. Mr. Kirsh has more than 30 years of real estate experience with the last 20 years of his career dedicated exclusively to the multi-residential housing industry. Mr. Kirsh’s experience includes executive positions with Revera Inc., GWL Realty Advisors and MetCap Living Inc. as well as positions with Brazos Advisors, Citibank Canada and Manulife Real Estate (the global real estate arm of Manulife Financial Corporation). During his tenure with these companies, Mr. Kirsh was involved in the asset management and operation of more than $10 billion of multi-residential real estate assets as well as the acquisition or disposition of approximately 35,000 multi-residential units valued at more than $10 billion. Mr. Kirsh holds a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
Martin Liddell is the Chief Financial Officer of Starlight. Mr. Liddell joined Starlight in January 2012 as the Chief Financial Officer of True North Apartment REIT (TSX:TN.UN). Prior to joining Starlight, Mr. Liddell was the Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Leisureworld Senior Care Corporation (TSX: LW.TO) from 2006 until 2011. Mr. Liddell has participated in over $10 Billion in real estate debt and equity financings including seven initial public offerings. Previously, Mr. Liddell held the position of Chief Financial Officer of NBS Technologies Inc. (TSX:NBS).
Between 2000 and 2005, Mr. Liddell served in a variety of increasingly senior corporate development and financial management roles at Tyco International Ltd. (NYSE: TYC), and prior to that from 1995 to 2000, provided strategic corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions advice to clients at KPMG LLP in the United Kingdom and Europe. Mr. Liddell holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in accounting and finance from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1995. Mr. Liddell is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
David Hanick joined Starlight Investments in November 2012. Prior to joining Starlight, Mr. Hanick was a corporate partner in the Toronto office of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP where he focused on public and private mergers and acquisitions as well as capital markets transactions acting for issuers, underwriters and private equity firms in various sectors including the real estate sector. Mr. Hanick has more than 20 years of legal, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance expertise, and has participated in transactions totaling more than $23 billion. Mr. Hanick is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and holds a joint Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business and Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Scott Bigford joined Starlight in November 2018 and is responsible for group oversight and managing the U.S. Multi-Family real estate owned by public vehicles and institutional joint venture partnerships. Prior to joining Starlight, Scott spent 22 years with the Realstar Group in various senior leadership roles, most recently as Senior Vice President, Operations responsible for Realstar’s property management operation across the country. Scott has a Diploma in Business Administration from Sheridan College.
Jacob Dinsmore joined Starlight in September 2018 as Vice President of Finance, Starlight U.S. Multi-Family. Jacob is responsible for the establishment of financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems in addition to the supervision of the general accounting and financial reporting.
Prior to joining Starlight, Jacob held senior finance positions at Dream Unlimited and Corsa Coal Corp. Jacob obtained his Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University.
Daniel Fletcher joined Starlight in August 2018 as Vice President of Investments, Starlight U.S. Multi-Family. In this role Daniel is responsible for acquisitions, divestitures and financings in the United States. Prior to joining Starlight, Daniel spent five years with The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited as Director of Investments and, prior to that, held progressively senior investment roles at TD Securities and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP).
Daniel has over 14 years of real estate investment experience, including numerous transactions in the Canadian, U.S., and Asian multi-family sectors. Daniel holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University.
Kyle Jordan joined Starlight in July 2021 and is the head of its US Single-Family Rental strategy. He brings over 10 years of transactions and asset management experience to Starlight, having managed a variety of investment strategies in single-family, multi-family and seniors’ housing asset classes in Canada and the US. Prior to joining Starlight, Kyle was a Director at Tricon Residential where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing investments in Tricon’s US single-family build-to-rent strategy.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science, Engineering Physics Degree from Queen’s University and a Master of Business Administration from the Smith School of Business.
